Antibacterial Tableware - bringing protection to the table

The need to do more to tackle disease-causing bacteria, such as MRSA, E.coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Legionella and Listeria is well reported. Cleaning and hand hygiene alone are not enough to stop the spread of bacteria in the environment. Additional defences are required.

The Harfield antibacterial polycarbonate tableware range is our response to this need, providing schools, nurseries, hospitals, nursing and care homes and other catering environments with a choice - a choice to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination, which can cause illness and infections.

Harfield incorporates Biomaster Protection (www.biomastertechnology.com) into its range of antibacterial tableware.  Biomaster is a safe, effective and permanent antimicrobial additive which is added to the tableware during manufacture and actively stops the growth of unwanted bacteria.

Harfield jugs, jug lids, tumblers, beakers, plates, bowls and cutlery are now available with Biomaster Protection and have all been tested to ISO 22196:2011 to prove they reduce the growth of bacteria.

Biomaster has been proven to reduce the growth of over 50 different species of bacteria, including food related types such as E.coli, Campylobacter and Salmonella by up to 99%.

How effective is Biomaster?
Silver has been used in its pure form for many centuries to prevent the growth of bacteria. Incredibly durable, long lasting and highly active, when Biomaster is added into a product it is dispersed throughout the entire item, will not wash off and will last its entire active lifetime. Biomaster is inorganic and non-leaching, which means unlike organic antimicrobial technologies it stays within the item into which it is added.

Tested on over 50 different bacteria species in over 2,000 applications, Biomaster has been proven to reduce harmful species such as MRSA, E.Coli, Listeria, Salmonella and Campylobacter by up to 99.99%. Biomaster has also been proven to remove over 80% of these bacteria in as little as 15 minutes and will last for decades in even the thinnest of coatings.
